Actor and stuntman Aaron Toney, the stunt double for Anthony Mackie on Marvel Studios/Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, shared a behind-the-scenes video explaining how he developed Sam Wilson's fight choreography with Cap's shield.

Toney posted a video on Instagram showing him practicing a leap while holding the iconic shield. He notes, "Some early movement concepts I was playing with in 2019 for when we revealed Falcon as Captain America for the series. Hope everyone enjoyed the series."

"Playing with some of my bootleg #wushu roots," he added. "Note the heaviness of my movement. I wanted to purposely weigh myself down trying to get prepared for costume restrictions, so I trained in semi-light tactical boots and some light padding just so I could see what I could pull off. Lots more stuff coming down the line."

Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, gave the shield to Wilson at the end of Avengers: Endgame, although Wilson demurred, saying it felt like "someone else's." In the Disney+ spinoff series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wilson donates the shield to a Captain America memorial exhibit. However, the shield is later given to John Walker by the U.S. government as Captain America's replacement. After Walker disgraces the shield and is stripped of the Captain America title, Wilson accepts the role in Season 1's finale.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series is available on Disney+.
