WARNING: The following contains spoilers for "You Brought Two Too Many," the main story of United States of Captain America #1 by Christopher Cantwell, Dale Eaglesham, Matt Milla and VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steve Rogers has worn multiple Captain America uniforms. Over the course of seven films, the character's costume evolved from his USO outfit in Captain America: The First Avenger to his final, scale-covered suit in Avengers: Endgame. And through all of these outfits, the dark blue outfit that Steve wore in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s covert S.T.R.I.K.E. team still stands as what's arguably his best MCU costume.

Captain America's S.T.R.I.K.E. team costume was inspired by the Steve Rogers: Super-Soldier suit he wore while Bucky was serving as Captain America in the comics, but there were still some differences between the two. But now, Captain America's full MCU suit has officially made the jump to comics in United States of Captain America #1.

In the main story of United States of Captain America #1, "You Brought Two Too Many," a mysterious stranger wearing a Captain America costume breaks into Steve Rogers' home. The assailant quickly proves themselves to be faster and stronger, and they steal Captain America's red, white and blue shield. Steve calls Sam Wilson, the Falcon, for help, while he suits up and hops on his motorcycle to chase after the thief.

However, Steve doesn't put on the classic costume that he is currently sporting in the main Captain America series. Instead, he wears a navy blue tactical outfit that looks like a comic book take on the MCU's S.T.R.I.K.E. team costume.

Of course, it's important to note that the covert suit Steve Rogers wore in The Winter Soldier as well as in the opening minutes of Avengers: Infinity War was first inspired by comics. Indeed, the movie costume was based on the Commander Rogers outfit that the character wore during Marvel's Heroic Age in 2010. At the time, Bucky Barnes was the Marvel Universe's Captain America, and Steve Rogers started operating as a super-spy, soldier and S.H.I.E.L.D. director after being lost in time. For that reason, he had a new costume that no longer included a helmet or his signature shield. However, those changes were not included in the MCU's adaptation of the suit, since the costume was designed as a Captain America suit, which is why the cinematic version of the costume included the shield and helmet.

The Super-Soldier costume holds an important place in Captain America history -- so much so in fact that it even made a return in 2019's Captain America #12, when Steve suited back up in the iconic costume. And now, it's gone through some MCU-inspired changes that refine the look while signaling it out as a Captain America costume.

In United States of Captain America #1, Steve's suit loses the red stripes on the pants and adds his helmet, complete with painted wings on the side. While these are small changes, they bring this Captain America suit far more in line with the Winter Soldier era MCU suit. The Commander Rogers outfit reflected Steve's status as someone other than the Sentinel of Liberty, but this costume still distinctly belongs to Captain America.

Originally, Steve's Super-Soldier costume served as inspiration for the MCU, and his latest Captain America costume has now been re-informed by the tweaks made to the look in live-action. Considering that the current Captain America series is coming to a conclusion with Issue #30  on July 7, it's possible that United States of Captain America #1 may have just debuted Steve Rogers' new costume going forward.
