The Disney + show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been instrumental in bringing some of the most underappreciated heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe to life on the small screen. Though he might not have gotten much time to shine so far, one of the most surprising of these transitions was that of Isaiah Bradley, who was the first black Captain America. While Isaiah Bradley's story is one of the most stunning additions to the history of the Marvel Universe, his son's own journey to become a hero is just as incredible.

First introduced in 2003's Crew #1 by Christopher Priest and Joe Bennett, Josiah X was the son of Isaiah Bradley and an unnamed surrogate mother. During Isaiah's incarceration for stealing the Captain America costume after he returned from Germany, the government went to work harvesting any valuable DNA they could from Isaiah in the hopes of recreating him. When the surrogate realized what was happening, she fled with baby Josiah, who unfortunately ended up in a Catholic orphanage for most of his young life. When his powers first manifested, Josiah believed he had accidentally killed a nun after shoving her, so he fled the orphanage and joined the military after lying about his age.

Josiah served in Vietnam until being court martialed for assaulting a violently racist officer who nearly got him killed. Once back in the states, Josiah was imprisoned by the military, and tests confirmed his identity as the missing super soldier. Once again, Josiah's surrogate mother would help him to escape. Not only this, but she gave him a chance to reconnect with his real family, who he soon visited. Reconnecting with the family he never had was just the kind of catharsis that Josiah needed, but not one that would last long, as they were constantly under watch.

After heading out on his own once more, Josiah became a Muslim and opened a mosque in the Little Mogadishu neighborhood of Brooklyn. It was there that he would come into contact with a down on his luck James Rhodes, as well as where he would get the chance to hold up his father's legacy for himself. When Josiah met Rhodey, the Avengers' sister had just been murdered in the same neighborhood, and the two came together with Junta and White Tiger in order to clean up the streets as The Crew. The team was formed more out of self-interest than anything else, and though none of the original members are still officially on the roster, their story set the stage for those who came later.

As Justice, Josiah fought alongside the rest of The Crew wearing a chainmail Captain America costume and carrying Isaiah Bradley's battle scarred shield. Josiah worried that the symbols he carried wouldn't represent the inspiration and truth that he was fighting for, but held firm that his father's story could be more than just a myth or bit of oral history.

After taking down the gang that had been plaguing the neighborhood, Josiah spent time with his family off and on again. As told by his nephew Eli Bradley, aka Patriot of the Young Avengers, Josiah went underground recently and hasn't been seen in quite some time. In fact, it has been over fifteen years since Josiah X has made an appearance in the Marvel Universe, though there is no doubt that he is still fighting for the truth no matter where he is.
