Captain America, Conan, Ghost Rider 2: Sept 9th Comic Reel

It’s first look day! The Daily Mail (via Comic Book Movie) has several photos of a stunt double in Cap’s costume.

Since we’ve heard Cap will have see his suit evolve as he goes from USO curiosity to actual fighter, it’s hard to say if this is the final evolution of if more is to come.

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

Steven Lang talks up his weapon to MTV News. Yeah, I know that sounds filthy.

Release date: 2011

The sports at sent me a translation of their script review. It has a few quirky sentences, but it gets the point across.

“We found Johnny Blaze years after the events of the first movie, self-exiled from the world. In this way, hopefully, not having contact with people, able to control the spirit of Vengeance. Blaze is approached by Moreau, a unusual monk part of the monastic order of Michael, the warrior angel. He needs the special talents of former stuntman to trace a woman named Nadya and her son Danny, who must be protected at all costs, as there is on his trail Roarke, who is none other than an old knowledge of our hero (you certainly understand who they are) and is interested in the guy for a particular reason.

The script strongly underlines the tormented soul of Johnny Blaze since its first appearance. Is a man who just wants to hide and who sees in his power a curse, more muted than in previous movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson. The script focuses on the background in this way also “historic” that covers Ghost Rider, explaining in more detail to the viewer that the spirit of Vengeance is appearing more than once, and with different identities over the centuries. An interesting part of this working thanks to the characterization, creating a strong bond between the characters of Nadya, Danny and Johnny, also not forgetting Moreau, well shaded from start to finish. Only link with the previous film is a little flashback on the Origin of Ghost Rider, the covenant between Blaze and Mephisto.

A defect in particular, however, is to underline the main plot of “Mephisto” bad, or to Roarke, of course already seen in myriad other films in one way or another, and perhaps a little degrading, who expected more from this point of view. Ultimately the work is pretty good but could do better, also seen the one from which you started earlier. For the most passionate fans, there’s a final twist, but much nerd. Not reveal more.”

Release date: 2011?

Continuing our first look theme, our pals at Spinoff Online spotted this photo of January Jones as Emma Frost:

Well, at least Emma Frost is hidden somewhere under that parka and hat. There are more pictures from the shoot at INF Daily which include Jones’s double in an identical costume and the actress taking a photo of the proceedings. It’s always hilarious when the worlds of the paparazzi and superheroes collide.

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

It seems things may finally be moving again for the film. With reports of MGM’s financial situation getting a reprieve, also comes word the production wants actor Martin Freeman so much, they’re willing to accommodate his schedule on the BBC’s “Sherlock”. The actor initially passed, but according to Entertainment Weekly, “New Line and MGM, the studios backing the ‘Hobbit’ films, have since come back to Freeman with a proposed schedule that would allow him to shoot both projects. All parties are currently negotiating a deal.” I have to admit I like him for the role. You might remember him as Tim from the original version of “The Office” or as Arthur Dent in the movie version of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”

Director David Yates tells Ed Gross he has not been offered the chair for the FF reboot. “I’ve no interest in doing ‘Fantastic Four’, frankly, and there have been no discussions about it.” says Yates. “I think more than anything after Potter, I need a bit of a break.”

Release date: TBA

Ed also has an interview with Cort Lane, supervising producer of the “Marvel Anime” project set to air on G4. “It’s a very unique project for us. There are two reasons to do it. The first is, it’s really a fricking cool idea, to do an interpretation of these characters in an anime style, but also to help us expand into a market where our characters are not as popular, so you get to have your cake and eat it, too,” says Lane. “You get something that’s really cool for fans around the world, and in the US, but also to grow our market presence in Japan. And as part of it, we had to be comfortable with letting loose a little bit with our characters, and allowing Madhouse and their brilliant creative team, to do a little bit of a different interpretation of our characters. To our surprise, it really came back to our core aspects and storylines, and visuals for the characters that everyone will be familiar with, so that was reassuring.”

Release date: TBA

We still have this great cloudy weather hanging over us. Which at least signals the time when sweaters will be needed. I always prefer this to Summer, but I suppose that’s just me. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous.
