After nabbing $5.9 million from domestic theaters and $8.9 million from international screens yesterday, "Captain America: Civil War's" total gross has reached $971.9 million -- making it the highest-grossing film of 2016 at the worldwide box office.

According to Forbes, Disney's "Captain America" sequel has surpassed the studios' animated hit, "Zootopia" -- which currently has a $971.036 million total gross -- at the international box office. Domestically, "Civil War" is still behind "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" ($328 million) and "Deadpool" ($362 million), but it'll likely pass both films within the week.

In terms of the all-time domestic record for Marvel films, "Civil War" is still well behind "Avengers" ($896 million), "Avengers: Age of Ultron" ($947 million) and "Iron Man 3" ($806 million), but it's only been in U.S. theaters for about two weeks.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and more, "Captain America: Civil War" is currently in theaters.
