Ahead of its domestic release, “Captain America: Civil War” has already crossed the $200 million mark globally. Variety reports that the film has pulled in $261.6 million overseas since opening in international markets last week. “Civil War” debuts in the United States tomorrow with preview night screenings tonight.
Additionally, the film opens in Russia and Argentina today, and begins its theatrical run in the U.S. and China on Friday. Early projections have targeted an opening weekend of $200 million domestically. Variety notes that advance ticket sales have also been healthy, with Fandango reporting that 90% of their online sales are for “Civil War.”
The film has so far done well in South Korea where it’s earned $35.2 million. It’s also brought in $31.8 million in the UK so far, as well as another $25.6M in Mexico, $17.1M in Brazil, $13.2M in Australia and $12.4M in Japan.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and more, “Captain America: Civil War” opens on May 6.
