At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers/Captain America passed his shield off to Sam Wilson/Falcon after returning from his journey through time. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam, was at Comic-Con International in San Diego, where he donned his shield during Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation.
The images, which were released officially by Marvel Studios, show Mackie on stage with the shield.
Mackie first played Sam Wilson in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He's since reprised his role for several films, and it's clear he's set to play a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, having taken the shield much like his counterpart in the comics. Although no film was announced for the character, he's set to next appear in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on the Disney+ streaming service alongside Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.
The Disney+ streaming service will launch this November. Directed by Kari Skogland, Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan and will be released on Disney+. The series will hit the streaming service in Fall 2020.
