Captain America: New World Order will feature the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut of Israeli superhero Sabra.

The announcement came at the D23 Expo, a Comic-Con-like fan convention where the House of Mouse reveals trailers, castings and other news regarding its upcoming Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and Lucasfilm projects. Israeli actor Shira Haas will portray the hero.

Marvel Studios also confirmed at D23 that Tim Blake Nelson would reprise his role as the Leader in the upcoming film, while Carl Lumbly and Danny Ramirez will return as Isaiah Bradley and Joaquin Torres, respectively. Nelson was last seen in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, while Lumbly and Ramirez starred in Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which serves as a lead-in for Captain America: New World Order. They join Anthony Mackie, who will lead the film as Sam Wilson / Captain America.

Created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Sal Buscema, Ruth Bat Seraph / Sabra made her first appearance in a cameo in August 1980's Incredible Hulk #250 before properly debuting in February 1981's Incredible Hulk #256. A mutant with superhuman strength and the ability to transfer her life force to other people, she is also skilled in weaponry and hand-to-hand combat, and can fly with the help of her anti-gravity wrist bands. A member of the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, she has fought against and alongside the Hulk, and has teamed up with the X-Men, the Avengers and Union Jack.
