Captain America 2 Films This Year, Followed By a Nick Fury Movie?

Marvel is aiming to begin production on the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger by the end of the year, possibly followed by the long-discussed Nick Fury movie. But not just any Nick Fury movie -- one that could be set in the 1970s.

The news comes courtesy of Neal McDonough, who repeats that he'll reprise his role as Dum Dum Dugan while also confirming to IMDb.com that Thor 2 will start filming this summer.

"Yeah, they’re planning (to go into production for) Captain America 2 for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time," he tells the website. "So they’re going to do Thor 2, and as soon as Thor has wrapped, they’ll do Cap 2. Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything."

And, really, who isn't looking forward to a Nick Fury/S.H.I.E.L.D. movie which, in addition to Samuel L. Jackson and McDonough, would presumably star Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders. But McDonough has his own reasons.

"Because it’ll be me and Sam Jackson," he says. "In the real Marvel universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man. … And I just pray that they have a 1970s setting, because I want to see Sam Jackson with lambchops kicking people’s asses for Marvel universe. It would just be awesome. And to work with Sam would be a treat. We’ve become friendly over the years."

Before that, though, we'll see Jackson as Fury in The Avengers, which opens May 4.
