Capcom is ringing in the Street Fighter franchise's 35th anniversary in style, with the official announcement of Street Fighter 6 and a compilation of several of its fan-favorite fighting games with Capcom Fighting Collection coming to major consoles this June. Collecting 10 games in all, the title is slated to mark the North American home console debut for several of Capcom's more obscure fighting game franchises along with the return of some of its more popular mainstays in a comprehensive package.

Here are all 10 games included in the Capcom Fighting Collection by franchise, including the history behind some of the more overlooked properties set to see the light of day for the first time in decades with the compilation title.

Street Fighter

There are three Street Fighter games included in the Capcom Fighting Collection, though these aren't instantly familiar titles like the Street Fighter Alpha or Street Fighter III trilogies. A version of Street Fighter II is included but, rather than being an installment from the series' heyday in the '90s, the provided game is 2003's Hyper Street Fighter II released in arcades and home consoles to commemorate the franchise's 25th anniversary.

Joining Hyper Street Fighter II are Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, two off-kilter spinoffs to the Street Fighter and Darkstalker franchises. True to its title, 1996's Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo was a puzzle-solving game that saw battles between players going based on how well they could match and clear colored gems. 1997's Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix was more of a conventional fighting game though the chibi-designed characters could be upgraded with different gems.

Darkstalkers

The franchise the most well-represented in the Capcom Fighting Collection is the Darkstalkers series, with five Darkstalkers games appearing the compilation, not counting the crossover characters appearing in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo or Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix. These include 1994's Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, 1995's Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge and 1997's Vampire Savior trilogy.

While an updated version of Vampire Savior was released for the original PlayStation in 1998, the original arcade versions of the Vampire Savior trilogy have gone unreleased on home consoles in North America for over 25 years since their debut in Japan. This includes 2013's Darkstalkers Resurrection, which included the PS1 Vampire Savior but omitted its preceding arcade trilogy which will be included in their entirety with the Capcom Fighting Collection.

Red Earth

One of the bigger surprises in the Capcom Fighting Collection is 1996's Red Earth, with the 2D fighter releasing its first-ever home console port 26 years after its arcade launch. Set in a post-apocalyptic 1999 -- with the North American localization instead taking place in an alternate timeline's 14th century -- Red Earth has a motley crew of heroes and monsters set out to save their fantasy world or dominate it completely.

Red Earth featured several gameplay innovations for Capcom at the time, including characters leveling up between matches in single-player mode, improving offensive and defensive capabilities. Red Earth is also one of the few Capcom fighting games to include fatalities provided to the winning character, with a surprising amount of violence for Capcom at the time, with multiple character endings in single-player mode dependent on how players dealt with their opponents.

Cyberbots

The other one-off fighting game franchise included in the Capcom Fighting Collection is 1995's Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness which only saw limited arcade distribution outside of Japan. Though receiving home console ports on the PS1 and Sega Saturn in Japan, Cyberbots never received a localized, international release until its inclusion on the upcoming compilation.

Like Capcom's preceding fighter Armored Warriors, Cyberbots allows players to customize their characters, selecting different arms, legs and weapons, each with their own capabilities and attributes. Since then, the Cyberbots franchise has been shelved though protagonist Jin Saotome would resurface as a playable character in 2000's Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.

Published by Capcom, Capcom Fighting Collection will be released June 24 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
