The long-awaited animated Cannon Busters season is finally on Netflix! From robots to cyborgs to cursed immortals, this show has it all. With 12 action-packed episodes in the first season, it leaves you wanting more (keep some fingers crossed for Netflix to officially announce a second season). Created by LeSean Thomas and originally in comic book form, this anime will keep you on your toes. Watch out for a gunfight every episode, maintenance bot shenanigans, S.A.M. (the adorable "special associate model") attempting to make new friends at every turn, and Philly the Kid (our jaded immortal) tallying his deaths.

But how's the anime, really? Here are 10 reasons to love it (in no particular order, of course)!

10 That Music Though

It's got a killer soundtrack. Its opening song, "Showdown," by Bradley Denniston and Kevin Beggs and performed by Marty Grimes and BJRNCK, is something you can really jam to; this is an unskippable opening song. The only downside is that the song is so short. Clocking in at a minute thirty seconds, it's a regular length for an anime opening, but it's just the kind of song that makes you want to keep on going.

The ending song is almost as good; it's a much slower, comfortable song to contrast the opening. "Regardless" (also by Bradley Denniston and Kevin Beggs, but performed by Mansa Imani) lets you calm down after the episode and peer into the main character's pasts with some beautiful still shots.

9 The Tropes You Know And Love

Stories are no strangers to tropes, and this series just happens to scratch that certain Anime Cowboy itch that some people have been feeling. While it's definitely possible to get sick of some tropes, there are many some can't get enough of. Who doesn't love the transforming car? The futuristic Wild West? Cute androids?

Cannon Busters will swoop in and take care of some of the aches in your heart Cowboy Bebop left behind.

8 The Dicey Magical Situation

In the world of Cannon Busters, for some, magic is taboo. Technology and magic collide in this show, and it's entertaining to watch, especially when Philly the Kid's magic curse brings him back from the dead to keep shooting more bullets.

The marriage (or divorce) of magic and technology brings an aspect to the series that will be cool to see play out, what with the main villain taking control of the kingdom of Botica with magic.

7 Off-The-Wall Comedy

As a mature anime, it gets quite a bit of freedom to run with comedy that most shows might stray away from. As a result, there's some great rib-cracking humor that adults can enjoy to the fullest. The characters dynamic and personalities naturally lend to some great contrasting humor. It also helps that the fast pace of the series means that jokes can come right after the other.

Even if it's not meant to be comedic, the dialogue of this series is one of its strong suits, as it lets you know who each character is immediately with one single line.

6 Voice Acting

The voice acting for this series is absolutely superb, particularly the English dub. The voice actors were made for their roles. Each is able to lend their voices perfectly to portray Casey Turnbuckle, S.A.M., and Philly the Kid's unique senses of style and comedy. It's always a pleasure to hear voices that sound just right.

But if the English dub isn't your fancy, the Japanese, Japanese Audio Description, German, Spanish, and French dubs are also available to bring this story to life.

5 The Main Trio

One of the best parts about a series is the main trio. Cannon Busters has the morally-gray Philly the Kid, who's just a bit of an idiot and more than a little paranoid, S.A.M., everyone's friend and a nieve sweetheart, and Casey Turnbuckle, a maintenance bot with a habit of collecting junk to fix. It's important to note that S.A.M. and Casey are androids, leaving Philly to be the only one with real flesh and blood (though he loses it quite a bit).

Each of them is a complex character in their own right, with their own motivations and quirks that Cannon Busters wouldn't be the same without.

4 Killer Supporting Cast

"Killer" because so many of these people either try to kill Philly or succeed. This only serves to increase his paranoia, which he could do with less of - not that he is wrong most of the time. The supporting cast includes a disgraced alcoholic ronin, several gangs of mercenaries, human leathermakers, and many more. Each character is memorable and has a unique character design (and most are people of color!).

3 Just Robots

All the robots. Need more? One only wants to be your friend and will protect you to the bitter end, and another will squeak at you and try to fix whatever you have on you. Be fascinated with all the androids and robotic devices you can find.

They are everywhere. You can't resist the robots. Not in a "or else they'll take over the world," of course. Well, maybe not directly.

2 Bessie

This is similar to robot entry, but Bessie, Philly's car/bull, is enough to take a peek at this series by itself. Bessie's bull form doesn't come out often, but when she does, you're in for a real treat. The transformation sequence, in which Bessie changes from a hot pink color to flaming red and into a standing bull, is entertaining on its own. To even get the raging bull mode, Philly has to feed her four quarters through an arcade game in her dashboard, which is "weird," as Casey Turnbuckle says.

1 S.A.M.

S.A.M. deserves her own entry, because who doesn't love an android programmed for friendship? S.A.M., as mentioned before, stands for "special associate model," and her programming means that she will attempt to make friends with anybody (her character design is so fluffy and cute, who wouldn't want to be friends with her?). She's also a mysterious being called a "Cannon Buster," so, obviously, she's important.

There are also interesting heavy contrasts between her and Philly the Kid, as his antisocial nature and her helpful, friendly one can lead to some funny situations. Where his motto is basically "trust no one," she trusts everyone. The simple contrast between the characters lends to opportunities from each to learn from each other, though S.A.M. really shouldn't learn much from Philly if she wants to continue to make friends.
