The Star Wars universe is far more than just the films. It expands to television series, books, comics, and video games. Fans are always excited to hear a new Star Wars video game is in development as there have been so many great releases.

While EA has been making all the Star Wars games for the past few years, there are plenty of games that have been canceled over the years that fans are sad that will never see. While people are still looking forward to the rumored Star Wars: Fallen Order sequel and the Ubisoft open-world game, gamers will always long for the games that never were.

9 Star Wars: First Assault Was Call Of Duty For Star Wars

Star Wars: First Assault was another first-person shooter that was in development before the sale of Lucasfilms to Disney. When Disney bought the company, First Assault was canceled. The game's concept art made it look like a more intense, and realistic war game than the similar Battlefront title. While a lot of fans compare this more to Call of Duty than Battlefront, it will more than likely never see the light of day.

8 A Untiled Chewbacca Game Would Have Explored The Famous Wookiee's Story

This untitled Chewbacca game would have examined the life of the famous Wookiee after the events of Revenge of the Sith. While a lot of fans would have loved a game about Chewbacca and his life as a mercenary during the rise of the Empire, George Lucas himself cancelled the game. While of course, Solo has filled in this gap now, there might still be room for more stories about Chewbacca and his exploits.

7 Dark Squadron Would Have Been The Fourth Entry In The Rogue Squadron Franchise

Rogue Squadron is one of the biggest game franchises for Star Wars. Fan loved the series and were always hungry for more installments. There were three great games and now a movie is in development by the same name. There was a fourth game planned that was going to be called Dark Squadron and it would have players taking over the role of Imperial pilots. This game was canceled in order to make the Chewbacca game, which then was also canceled.

6 Republic Commando 2 Would Have Helped Formed The Rebellion

Republic Commando features Delta Squadron and was about their exploits. These were the best of the best clones and fans loved being able to play as Delta Squad. The sequel was going to feature Sev and how he resisted Order 66 and then became a founding member of the Rebellion. While this concept was not compelling enough for the game to get past development, some fans see pieces of this idea with Captain Rex and his arc in The Bad Batch and Star War Rebels

5 Battlefront III Was In The Works

The Battlefront franchise is a staple and a fan-favorite series for the franchise. Before EA relaunched the series with their two successful entries, there was a third game in development and it was going to feature seamless ground to space battles.

The game went into development in 2006 by Free Radical Design and was later canceled in 2008. Now fans are once again waiting for Battlefront III but this time from EA and DICE.

4 Visceral Games Was Developing Project Ragtag

Visceral Games was in charge of the Star Wars game, Project Ragtag. The story was going to be about a criminal heist in the Star Wars universe and it would take place after the events of A New Hope. The game was being headed up by Amy Hennig, one of the creators behind the Uncharted games. Fans were excited for this game when it started development in 2013. When EA shutdown Visceral Games in 2017, the game was canceled.

3 Force Unleashed III Was Going To Be A Big Change For The Franchise

Force Unleashed is one of the few games that truly lets the players feel like a powerful Force user. The abilities are off the charts and fans quickly fell in love with the look and feel of the game. The second game was met with a much more lukewarm reception. When the third game was in its early stages it was supposed to be the final entry in the franchise and it would feature Starkiller and Vader teaming up to oppose the Emperor's new plan to replace Vader but it was canned early in development.

2 1313 Was Going To Be The Ultimate Criminal Underworld Game

1313 was supposed to be a dark and gritty action/adventure game that focused on the criminal underworld on Coruscant. The protagonist would have been Boba Fett as a young adult and fans would have been living his life as he tried to navigate the complicated hierarchy of the underworld. This game was in development for years and fans were always waiting for this game, but they were continually disappointed.

1 Knight Of The Old Republic 3 Was Canned Because Of Internal Politics

Knights of the Old Republic is a smash hit franchise and by far the biggest Star Wars video game. Fans have loved this series since it was first released and it has been released on multiple consoles and on mobile devices. At one point there was a KOTOR III in development. Most of the story was written and the environment was built. But LucasArts hit a rough patch and this caused the cancellation of what would have been a massive game. A KOTOR remake is being made by Aspyr.
