One of the biggest gaming franchises, the first-person-shooter takes place across a number of time periods throughout history. The series has been critically acclaimed for its storytelling, especially the harrowing events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, in particular the arc where the player follow one of the main characters trying (and failing) to escape a nuclear blast. The series has also gone pretty ridiculous in the past (looking at you, Infinite Warfare), so it’s difficult to say exactly what elements from the franchise will make it into the movie.

Variety reports the franchise is being eyed as a potential cinematic universe, depending on the success of the initial films. There is no scheduled release date for Call of Duty.
