While it’s still not entirely clear what role Cable will play when he makes his debut in the upcoming Deadpool 2, actor Josh Brolin has revealed that the movie is the start to a four movie arc for the character.
“I’m not going to tell you how much I’m in the film, but it’s his introduction, and I think his introduction, even in the small promos and teasers that David has shown me, I think it’s a proper reveal,” Brolin revealed in an interview with Collider. “I think we’re not trying to hide the fact that this is the beginning of Cable and absolutely not the end. I think when you’re sensitive about how you reveal this character there’s a sense of mystery in it, so then when we finally get into X-Force, you’re going to be with this guy full blown all the time. There’s a lot to be revealed. There’s a lot to be revealed, but there’s three more movies to reveal more.”
The interview also reveals, seemingly for the first time, that Brolin has signed on for at least four movies with Fox. This means that Brolin will appear in two more movies in addition to Deadpool 2 and X-Force, though it’s currently unknown what those movies are.
Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison in an unknown role and Jack Kesy as a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy. The film opens June 1, 2018.
