With the classic duo of Cable and Deadpool about to meet cinematically for the first time in next week's Deadpool 2, Marvel Comics has re-teamed the odd couple for a brand new adventure.

Writer David F. Walker (Power Man & Iron Fist) and artist Paco Diaz (Uncanny X-Men) along with a whole roster of stellar artists reunite the time-traveling mutant with the Merc with a Mouth in Cable and Deadpool Annual #1.

When Deadpool takes a job to track a woman through the time stream, he quickly finds himself the target of time-traveling villains. Running out of options, Wade Wilson reaches out to his old BFF Cable to ensure that he not only completes his mission but also that he doesn't totally destroy the Marvel Universe as we know it in the process.

Deadpool had originally been created in 1991 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza as an antagonist for Cable and the New Mutants in the pages of The New Mutants #98. After both characters carried on largely separate adventures, they were given a team-up book appropriately titled Cable & Deadpool launched by co-creator Nicieza and artist Mark Brooks in 2004 ultimately running for fifty issues. Since then, the characters have teamed up sporadically revisiting their buddy dynamic in various adventures across the Marvel Universe.

Cable and Deadpool Annual #1 written by David F. Walker with art by Paco Diaz and a whole host of others is out through Marvel on August 15.
