Bumblebee was a major success for the Transformers franchise, and there are a number of reports indicating that the prequel will lead to a whole new direction for the series. Now, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, one of the producers behind the series, has teased the possibility of the sequel to Bumblebee featuring the titular hero teaming up with Optimus Prime.

While speaking to the Japanese website Cinema, Di Bonaventura revealed that two potential new films are in development, one of which might feature Optimus and Bumblebee teaming up. "We are already working on two projects and both have scripts under development," he said. "One is the latest in the main family series following the events of Transformers: The Last Knight and the other is a sequel to Bumblebee. So, we are thinking of films where Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will be the buddies, but when Optimus and Bumblebee are the movies of the protagonists … how human beings get involved in their drama In the first place, the size is different between human beings and theirs …. It’s a worrying point (laughs).”

Both films are still in the early stages of development and subject to change, but this seems to hint that the producers are at least considering a Bumblebee sequel to introduce other Transformers to Earth. This also seems to gel with earlier reports that Optimus Prime would play a major role in the sequel.
