Netflix has confirmed what fans have been speculating for months: That Matt Murdock will face off against Marvel Comics villain Bullseye in Marvel's Daredevil Season 3.
New cast details released by the streaming service list actor Wilson Bethel (How to Get Away With Murder) as playing Benjamin Pointdexter, an alias sometimes used in the comics Bullseye, the costumed assassin with virtually unerring aim, and the ability to turn most any object into a lethal projectile. We can likely assume, then, that it's Poindexter in the Daredevil costume in the newly released trailer.
Introduced in 1976, Bullseye attempted, but failed, to kill Wilson Fisk, but convinced the Kingpin to hire him as his chief assassin, only to be fired following a humiliating defeat by Daredevil. He escaped from prison and impales Fisk's new assassin, Daredevil's former lover, in a bid to get rehired. In a 1990 story arc, Bullseye encountered an amnesiac Matt Murdock, and uses the opportunity to impersonate Daredevil to commit robberies in an effort to ruin the vigilante's reputation, kind of like in the new trailer.
Showrunner Erik Olsen dropped some hints about Season 3's new adversary during CBR’s visit to Daredevil‘s Brooklyn set, but didn't name him. “There is another character on the show who is a very physical threat to Matt, who in many ways is able to balance and/or even best Daredevil," he teased.
Arriving Friday, Oct. 19, on Netflix, Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Joanne Whaley, Vincent D’Onofrio and Wilson Bethel.
