A new Slayer from times past makes her mark on Matt Smtih's variant cover for Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3, arriving in March from BOOM! Studios.
CBR has the exclusive first look at the cover, which depicts a Norse Slayer with a sword in one hand and a broken spear in another, fending off a trio of Viking vampires in the snow-covered mountains.
Written by Jordie Bellaire (Redlands) and illustrated by Dan Mora (Klaus, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers), with the involvement of Buffy creator Joss Whedon, the new BOOM! series reimagines the beloved series from the beginning. The comic will reintroduce Buffy Summers, who struggles to make friends at a new high school even as she tries to escape her destiny as the latest in a long line of vampire slayers. The series promises to be a blend of the new and the familiar, as the Scooby Gang faces different challenges, to say nothing of a new Big Bad.

The penultimate chapter of the new series' first arc, Issue 3 follows Buffy and the Scooby Gang as they make a shocking discovery about the true nature of the Hellmouth that lurks beneath Sunnydale, while Drusilla and Spike escalate their plan for the Slayer and those closet to her.
In addition to the variant by Smith (Smith (Jim Henson’s Storyteller, Barbarian Lord), Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3 features another variant by horror illustrator Scott Buoncristiano, and a main cover by Kevin Wada (She-Hulk).
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3 goes on sale March 13, 2019, from BOOM! Studios.
