CBR can exclusively reveal BOOM! Studios is launching a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series focusing on Buffy's replacement, Thess.
Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer is a new five-issue miniseries launching in Aug. 2023 from writer Casey Gilly (Star Wars Adventures, My Little Pony: Generations) and artist Oriol Roig. Picking up after the events of Mar. 2023's Buffy The Last Vampire Slayer Special (by Gilly, Joe Jaro, Maria Keane, Lea Caballero, Joana Lafuente and Ed Dukeshire) -- a one-shot that saw Thess take over the vampire-killing responsibilities from Buffy Summers in an alternate, apocalyptic Earth that's been explored throughout the "Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer" saga -- the new series will follow the new Slayer as she tests her might against a host of powerful and dangerous enemies.
The publisher said of the new series, "Thess is all grown up, having taken up the mantle as the new Slayer. But with new responsibilities come new enemies and a mysterious clan that will do anything to get to her…even if it means using her friends as bait!"
