Ever since its launch last year, BOOM! Studios Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book series has reintroduced the eponymous vampire hunter for a new generation. In a special interlude issue this month, the background of a new Slayer is explored in sunny Jamaica.

BOOM! has released a preview of Buffy the Vampire Slayer #13, written by Jordie Bellaire and illustrated by guest artist Valero-O'Connell, with colors by Raul Angulo and Eleonora Bruni and lettered by Ed Dukeshire. Following the vampire-slaying origins of Kendra, the preview pages -- and standard cover illustrated by David Lopez -- are below.

Kendra trained under the guidance of a figure known as the Watcher in her native Jamaica in preparation for the arrival of the Chosen One. However, the pressures of defending her entire community as a teenager take on a toll, leading to her eventual appearance in Sunnydale, California in the main story.

And with the epic crossover comic book storyline "Hellmouth" having just concluded, Buffy and Kendra may discover their vampire-slaying world has just gotten a whole lot bigger.
