As the Marvel Cinematic Universe extends to a whole wave of original programming on the newly launched streaming platform Disney+, longtime MCU character Bucky Barnes will get a new look for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The Disney+ special Marvel Studios: Expanding the Universe has provided concept art for many of the live-action miniseries coming to the premium streaming service. Included in the extensive sneak peek is concept art of Sebastian Stan's return as Bucky, with a cleaner new look for his eponymous miniseries with Falcon.

Providing a better look at the redesign than a previously seen poster from this past August's D23 Expo in Anaheim, Bucky has trimmed his formerly long hair and shaved his heavy stubble for a cleaner look, wearing a tunic similar to his classic World War II outfit in the comic books. The Wakandan vibranium arm is still present, now adorned with a bright white star, likely as a nod to his best friend and the original Captain America, Steve Rogers.

The concept art is just the latest redesign of returning MCU characters seen in the special, with additional reveals including a drastic new look for Sam Wilson and an altered appearance for S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Sharon Carter.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell and Daniel Brühl and will be available on Disney+ in fall 2020.
