For some actors, on-screen romance has a way of becoming real love once the cameras stop rolling. From High-School Musical and Twilight to Heroes and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, actors have a tendency to fall head over heels for their co-stars. While some hook-ups have led to successful relationships and marriages, many didn't make it past the end credits. Others are quick to dismiss rumors that their cinematic chemistry was anything more than just sticking to the script while some aren't ashamed to admit they got hot under the collar while filming steamy make-out moments.

When it comes to superhero movies, who hasn't gotten swept up in the romance of the damsel in distress being rescued by her crush-worthy caped crusader? With the secret identities and skin-tight spandex, it isn't hard to envision some co-stars having a little fun while on set. From the extended X-Men franchise to the constantly re-booted Spider-Man, the level of attraction some actors had for each other while on set went up, up, and away. CBR takes off the capes and cowls to  reveal 11 confirmed behind-the-scenes celebrity romances and four rumored relationships that took place on the set of superhero movies.

15  CONFIRMED: BEN AFFLECK AND JENNIFER GARNER

Probably one of the most well-known celebrity romances kindled on the set of a superhero film is that of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner in Daredevil. Despite his engagement to Jennifer Lopez at the time, Affleck admits being on set is "where I found my wife." Garner was also married to her Alias co-star Scott Foley but that didn't stop her from flirting with the actor during the taping of Diner for Five on IFC.

The two started dating in 2004 and married a year later, soon becoming the proud parents of three children. After 12 years together, the two separated in 2017; reasons for the divorce ranging from Affleck's desire to be more social to Gardner's growing jealousy. Various sources also claim Affleck was having an affair, starting a relationship with SNL producer Lindsey Shookus in 2014. The two later went public with their romance in July 2017.

14 CONFIRMED: RYAN REYNOLDS AND BLAKE LIVELY

Regarded as Hollywood's model for #RelationshipGoals, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have managed to keep their Green Lantern romance alive and well. During their time on set, the two instantly became close friends. At the time, Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson and Lively was dating her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley. After separating from their partners, Reynolds and Lively reunited to promote their film at Comic Con.

It wasn't until October of 2011 that the two sparked rumors of a romance when Lively was spotted visiting her former co-star on the set of his film R.I.P.D, later traveling to Vancouver together for the holidays. The two surprised everyone when they secretly married in South Carolina after only a year of dating. Since then, the pair have welcomed two children and continue to playfully tease each other on social media.

13 RUMORED: MICHAEL FASSBENDER AND ZOE KRAVITZ

Despite their age difference, there was enough attraction to pull Michael Fassbender and Zoe Kravitz together on the set of X-Men: First Class. The latter portrayed Angel Salvadore who has the ability to fly with insect-like wings. She is later persuaded by Sebastian Shaw to join his side, betraying her X-Men teammates. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, she is killed by Project WideAwake operatives during a fight.

The couple, who hooked-up in 2010, didn't make their first public appearance together until 2011 during a romantic stroll through New York's West Village. Sources stated Kravitz was drawn to Fassbender's "A-list status and Oscar prospects" while the actor was attracted to her maturity and caring nature. After an amicable split, Kravitz began an on-and-off relationship with Penn Badgley for two years.

12 CONFIRMED: JENNIFER LAWRENCE AND NICHOLAS HOULT

On and off the screen, Jennifer and Nicholas couldn't hide their red hot passion for one another. The stars met during filming of X-Men: First Class where Lawrence portrayed blue vixen Mystique while Hoult played furry hunk Beast and reportedly fell in love. When asked if the two ever hooked-up while on set, Lawrence was quick to avoid answering but mischievously teased having to explain touch-ups between lunch breaks was often hard to explain away.

The two briefly split in 2013 before reuniting again for X-Men: Days of Future Past where they filmed a passionate make-out scene that, much to the dismay of fans of the couple, was cut because it didn't work with the rest of the established scenes. The stars continued their on-and-off romance for three years before finally separating in 2014. Lawrence later went on to date Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and recently Mother director Darren Aronofsky.

11 CONFIRMED: EMMA STONE AND ANDREW GARFIELD

In October 2010, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were set to star in The Amazing Spider-Man, a reboot of the previous Tobey MaGuire trilogy. Garfield admitted he felt an instant connection with Stone during her audition and the two grew close during filming. The couple didn't go public with their romance until April 2012, the intensity of their chemistry being unleashed during production for the sequel, which involved an intimate scene where Stone's character Gwen Stacy tends to Peter Parker's wounds, fearful that she will lose him.

In 2014, Garfield hosted SNL and reunited with his co-star to reenact their kissing scene, which took a hilarious turn. Sadly after four years together, the couple split in 2015, despite their deep adoration for each other, due to Andrew's depressive state after filming Silence. To this day, the stars remain friendly exes and fiercely supportive of one another.

10 RUMORED: TOM HOLLAND AND ZENDAYA

It appears Stone and Garfield weren't the only ones who got tangled in a web of romance rumors. The stars of the 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming film, Tom Holland and Zendaya tried to dodge media scrutiny when it came to their close relationship, even joking about it with one other on social media. The two were reported to be dating during the film's press tour but since then, the young actors have remained adamant to deny the rampant rumors.

Various media outlets stated the couple remained hush-hush about their relationship "for privacy reasons" and revealed Holland met Zendaya's parents after a year of dating and was an instant hit with the family. The statement was sparked when the potential couple was spotted celebrating the premiere of the singer / actress' film The Greatest Showman with her parents at Bobby Van's Central Park South.

9 CONFIRMED: JAMIE BELL AND KATE MARA

Speculation about whether the Fanastic Four co-stars were getting cozy was confirmed when Jamie Bell and Kate Mara were seen locking lips in New York City's SoHo district. Despite their rocky start in the epic disaster that was the 2015 reboot, the couple has managed to come out fine. After two years of dating, the pair married last year in Los Angeles.

Mara revealed in an interview with Andy Cohen that she met her husband 10 years before their appearance as Sue Storm and Ben Grimm, during a screen test in which they had to kiss. It wasn't until the press tour for Fantastic Four that the two "fell in love." Screenwriter Simon Kinberg remarked to PEOPLE that the cast of the doomed reboot were like a family both on and off the set. Nice to see something fantastic resulted from the box-office failure.

8 CONFIRMED: AUBREY PLAZA AND MICHAEL CERA

After she married Andy Dwyer and he knocked up Juno, Aubrey Plaza and Michael Cera co-starred in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and fell in love. The two dated for almost two years, nearly getting married in Las Vegas while driving cross-country according to Plaza. The two were drawn to each other's awkward humor and still remain close friends.

The Parks and Rec star spilled the beans regarding the previously unknown romance during an episode of RuPaul's Podcast "What the Tee?", saying she still considers her ex to be very special and "one of the funniest people I know." Since then, Plaza has come out as bisexual and starred in FX's Marvel series Legion while Cera voiced characters in Sausage Party and The LEGO Batman Movie, and makes an appearance as Player X in Molly's Game.

7 RUMORED: TOM HIDDLESTON AND ELIZABETH OLSEN

Before he became a die-hard T-Swift fan, Tom Hiddleston supposedly became romantic with his I Saw The Light co-star Elizabeth Olsen. In the MCU, Hiddleston plays the villainous Loki while Olsen portrays the Scarlet Witch. Despite their intense on-screen chemistry, Olsen was quick to dismiss rumors that their relationship was anything but professional.

While gossip magazines and social media were quick to establish the two as an item, both actors remain tight-lipped when it comes to their rumored romance. Whatever their previous relationship happened to be, it was quickly overshadowed by the overwhelming attention Hiddleston received when he was photographed kissing "Bad-Blood" songstress Taylor Swift in Rhode Island in July 2016. Their whirlwind romance, which only lasted three months, had "Swifties" overjoyed and ready to ring the wedding bells while "Hiddlestoners" were left heartbroken that their crush had been claimed.

6 CONFIRMED: KATE BECKINSALE AND LEN WISEMAN

It appears Beckinsale sunk her teeth into two men while filming the Underworld movies. She previously dated her co-star Michael Sheen who played werewolf leader Lucian. The two met while acting in the play The Seagull and became romantically involved, reuniting to film Underworld in 2003 before breaking up. After eight years, the two amicably called it quits but still remain very close, celebrating his birthday and their daughter's acceptance into college.

While on set, she met director Len Wiseman and began dating him shortly after splitting from Sheen. Wiseman proposed to Beckinsale during dinner at the Viceroy Hotel and the two married in 2004. In 2015, US Weekly confirmed that after eleven years of marriage, the two were separating due to "irreconcilable differences." During the split, Wiseman was photographed cozying up to model CJ Franco in West Hollywood.

5 CONFIRMED: HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN AND RACHEL BILSON

The Star Wars actor and The O.C actress met in 2007 while filming the sci-fi time-traveling film Jumper in which the two play lovers. It seems their on-screen chemistry traveled with them off-set, leading to a nearly ten year romance and an engagement in 2008 which they called off a few years later. The reason for the withdrawal was that the two wanted to reassess their relationship, which at the time was long-distance. They reconciled three months later and welcomed their daughter Briar Rose in October 2014.

In 2017, the two officially called it quits due to their drastically different personalities. While Bilson was known for being very social, Christensen had a tendency to be reclusive and sometimes depressed. Those close to the couple weren't surprised by the news, stating they had been drifting apart for a while due to their demanding lifestyles.

4 RUMORED: TYE SHERIDAN AND SOPHIE TURNER

Did one of the X-Men franchise's beloved romances almost become reality? Suspicions regarding whether the X:Men Apocalypse actors were an item began when Sheridan and Turner were seen having lunch dates together in 2015. The two were spotted leaving Nando's with their arms around each other, remaining affectionately close while walking through the streets of central London. The Game of Thrones actress was then spotted cozying up to Joe Jonas in 2016, the two becoming engaged last year.

In the film, Sheridan and Turner play Scott Summers / Cyclops and Jean Grey, who meet as young teens and try to gain control over their mutant abilities while attending Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Their romance is teased to be threatened in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is set to premiere this year with Jean Grey becoming corrupted by her new powers.

3 CONFIRMED: LAURENCE FISHBURNE AND GINA TORRES

After appearing together in The Matrix: Reloaded and Hannibal, Fishburne and Torres filed for divorce after 14 years of marriage. The two became engaged in February 2001 and married a year later at the Cloister's Museum in Upper Manhattan. They remain committed to co-parenting their daughter Delilah.

The couple met during filming of The Matrix: Reloaded and played husband and wife on the crime series Hannibal. They remained quiet about their separation for almost a year, announcing it publicly in September of 2017. Torres admitted with a heavy heart that their relationship began to dissolve and she was spotted kissing a new man shortly after in Los Angeles. The last event Fishburne and Torres were photographed at together was during the 38th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala.

2 CONFIRMED: WARREN BEATTY AND MADONNA

During filming of Dick Tracy in 1990, Beatty and Madonna's attraction toward one another was undeniable. The songstress was cast as the sultry vixen Breathless Mahoney while Beatty played the comic-strip detective. The relationship didn't last long after the premiere, suffering from the pair's conflicting views on living under media scrutiny as made evident in Madonna's Truth or Dare documentary, which Beatty was reluctant to take part in.

In his biography about the actor and his romance with the starlet, Peter Biskind recalled how some found their age difference to be quite alarming. At the time, Madonna was 30 while Beatty was 51; her ex Sean Penn remarked that Beatty was old enough to be her father. It appears she was attracted to Beatty due to the sense of calm he would bring to her eccentric life in the spotlight, as well as rumors that he was possibly bisexual.

1 RUMORED: SHIA LABEOUF AND HIS TRANSFORMERS COSTARS

The lovable goofball from Even Stevens wasn't shy about hinting he had a steamy hook-up with his Transformers co-star Megan Fox. LaBeouf teased that after spending six months filming together, their on-screen chemistry was bound to transform into something physical, despite Fox already being in a relationship during the time. The actor also admitted to "philandering around" with Isabel Lucas, who he acted alongside in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Lucas was also romantically involved with someone else at the time.

LaBeouf's cocky attitude regarding the situation caused tension between Fox and her then boyfriend Brian Austen Green, causing her to profusely apologize for an affair that may or may not have actually happened. Rumors of his involvement with Lucas started when the two were spotted after the actor's grisly car crash in 2008; her being the passenger when LaBeouf made an illegal turn and flipped his car.
