Bryce Dallas Howard is in early talks to join the cast of Disney's Pete's Dragon reboot, Variety reports.

The Jurassic World star would play the female lead, opposite Oakes Fegley as Pete. Robert Redford is also in talks to join the project in an unspecified role.

The film will feature a fresh take on the 1977 Disney live-action classic about a boy and his dragon pal Eliot. Sources have said the reboot, which comes from a script by David Lowery and Toby Halbrooks, will play the story as a straight narrative and ditch the original's musical numbers. The new Pete's Dragon will also be directed by Lowery.

Jurassic World opens on June 12, 2015.
