Following the debut of the teaser trailer for Fox's The Gifted, director Bryan Singer has revealed an intriguing behind-the-scenes photo from the upcoming X-Men television drama.

The image depicts actress Emma Dumont (Bunheads, Aquarius), who plays Lorna Dane, the magnetism-controlling mutants better known to Marvel Comics readers as Polais. What she's doing in that shot is certainly open to speculation, but she appears to be wearing a prison jumpsuit -- note the letters "D.O.," presumably for "Department of ..." -- and pressed against a sheet of plastic. The plastic tubing is likely for oxygen.

We might surmise Lorna is in the custody of the Department of Mutant Affairs or the Department of Domestic Security and Defense, agencies that have appeared in Fox's X-Men franchise. Of course, it could also be an organization created specifically for "The Gifted," which centers on a family forced to go on the run from the government after discovering their children have extraordinary abilities. What Dumont's wearing on her heard is a bit more difficult to figure out. It could be the show's interpretation on the headpiece Polaris frequently wears in comic books, but if that's the case it raises the question of why she would still have it in confinement.
