Bryan Cranston To Play Villain In Total Recall Remake

Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston is in talks to star opposite Colin Farrell in Columbia Pictures' remake of Total Recall, Heat Vision reports.

The three-time Emmy Award winner will play Vilos Cohaagen, the villainous leader of Euromerica, in director Len Wiseman's action film, which is expected to stick closer to Philip K. Dick's 1966 short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" than Paul Verhoeven's 1990 adaptation did.

The new version centers on Douglas Quaid (Farrell), an ordinary factory worker in New Shanghai who begins to believe he's a spy, but he's not sure for which side -- New Shanghai or the rival nation state Euromerica.

Best known for his roles in Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad, Cranston has been nominated for six Emmy Awards, winning three times for his portrayal of chemistry teacher turned meth manufacturer Walter White in the AMC drama.
