After seventy or so years of existence, fans are finally seeing real, expansive superhero universes unfold on the big screen. Marvel Studios launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008 with "Iron Man," and DC/WB followed suit with their shared universe of films in 2013's "Man of Steel." Now, both Marvel and DC fans are getting to see their favorite comic book heroes interact with each other in film. But there's still one more line to cross -- namely, a crossover between heroes from each of the shared universes. That's the world this "Superman vs. Hulk" fan trailer comes from.
Hailing from the Alex Luthor YouTube channel, this full-length fan trailer remixes footage from a ton of Marvel and DC movies, including all the Hulk ones and both of Henry Cavill's outings as the Man of Steel (including 2013's "Man of Steel" and this year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"). One thing's made abundantly clear by this hypothetical showdown, though: if Hulk and Superman ever clashed, it would be crazy destructive. But besides the spectacle of all that rubble, there are a number of clever edits in this trailer that make it worth checking out -- including it's use of the fact that both Hulk and Batman have the same, quasi-uncommon nowadays, first name.
