The Walking Dead alum Chad L. Coleman's villain in Superman & Lois Season 3 has been officially confirmed to be Bruno Mannheim, head of Intergang.

Per TVLine, Mannheim will be a classic villain-with-good-PR in the series. According to the official character description, "Bruno Mannheim is known to most of Metropolis as a local hero, a philanthropist who's revived the struggling neighborhoods of the city." The season will also see Lois take on Mannheim in her capacity as an investigative reporter as she aims to expose the apparent do-gooder as the secret head of a criminal organization. "For years, Lois Lane has worked to prove that behind that facade is a career criminal and the head of the notorious organization Intergang," the description reads. "With some new leads, she might be closer than ever."

Coleman was confirmed to play the main antagonist of Season 3 at a DragonCon panel in early September. Bruno Mannheim and Intergang were teased to be the villains of Season 3 in Superman & Lois' Season 2 finale, when John Diggle (David Ramsay) approached an alternate version of John Henry Irons/Steel for help investigating Mannheim and Intergang, who had killed the other Steel.

Bruno Mannheim's DC Origin Story

Bruno Mannheim first appeared in DC comics in July 1971's Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #139, as the son of Intergang founder Moxie Mannheim who later became the leader of Intergang himself. Retcons later established him as the group's original leader. Intergang is an international crime syndicate and are followers of the Religion of Crime, the cult linked to Darkseid and Apokolips. Via Darkseid, they are supplied with advanced alien weapons and other technology, which they use to fight powerful superheroes such as Superman.

Mannheim and Intergang have appeared numerous times in DC animated media, including Superman: The Animated Series, where Mannheim was voiced by Bruce Weitz; Young Justice, voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson; and The Death of Superman, voiced by Trevor Devall. Mannheim has appeared once before in live action -- the Smallville episode "Stiletto," played by Dominic Zamprogna. Intergang has appeared in the Arrowverse before, in the Supergirl episode "Dream Weaver," where they forced inmates at a prison to commit crimes in a fake work release program before Supergirl and Martian Manhunter uncovered the scheme.

Coleman most recently played the recurring role of Klyden, a Mochlan and the husband of main character Bortus, on Seth McFarlane's sci-fi comedy The Orville for all three seasons.

Superman & Lois Season 3 will air in 2023, with exact dates yet to be announced.
