WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Titans Season 3, Episode 11, "The Call Is Coming From Inside the House," available now on HBO Max.

Season 3 of Titans shook the status quo when it was revealed that Scarecrow (Vincent Kartheiser) used a Lazarus Pit hidden in Gotham to resurrect Jason Todd (Curran Walters) and turn him into the Red Hood. Fans were blindsided, as the show never alluded to Bruce Wayne's darkest secret existing in this universe before. Now, as the city crumbles, this pit could save one hero, but doom the entire team.

Scarecrow found the pit using stolen info from Batman, and since then, Gar has been studying Bruce's notes too. With the city under siege and the Titans split, he finds himself with a partner, a returning Rachel.

They scour the city, eventually finding the pit Scarecrow used. As Beast Boy points out unique symbols, Rachel connects them. Her Raven persona emerges as we see the black goo around her activated by the supernatural pool, which could throw the series into further unpredictable territory.

She feels something's off with Nightwing, and that's because Dick's been shot by a citizen while fighting Red Hood. The mob's beating him down and it's clear he's on the verge of dying. Raven's feelings could be a sign they'll have to bring him to this pit for resurrection. She's already used her mystical essence to try to revive Donna Troy, so it's easy to see her using the magical waters, and her abilities, to ensure they don't lose another leader.

The problem, however, is this inability to accept fate could corrupt Raven. She was already warned by the Themyscirans not to tamper with rituals outside her power and overall control. They sensed such meddling could harm Raven, and another attempt at defying death via the pit and her own spells could see Raven's gem altered so her monstrous dad, Trigon, returns. Even if it's not him, Raven's dark side -- something she's been suppressing -- might emerge to shock Beast Boy.

To top it off, there's no guarantee about Dick's mental state if they use the pit to bring him back. Jason turned deranged, just like in the comics, so if Dick's thrown into the pool, with or without Raven's magic, the waters can have an ill-effect on him.

Dick's saving grace could turn him into the monster he's always feared he holds within. And ultimately, having one or the other warped at such a crucial time won't bode well for a fractured team. It may lead to a civil war because, as Jason's shown, those who come back from the pit won't hold back in killing their own as they aim for a win.

The first 11 episodes of Titans Season 3 are available now on HBO Max. Episode 12 releases Oct. 14.
