It's future Batman versus the presumed Joker of "Gotham" in a new, three-minute trailer detailing the introduction, rise and metamorphosis of Jerome Valeska into the iconic character fans have long suspected he'll one day become.

Billed as the "Jerome White Band Trailer," the video features footage from Jerome's earliest appearances on the show, intercut with descriptions of the character. "Unhinged," "Sadistic," "Maniacal," "Homicidal" and "Bat Crap Crazy" are all apt descriptors of the murderous young man. However, the last description - "Dead" - is one that really no longer rings true.

Following his recent resurrection, there's no denying that Jerome is back among the living, though he's more than ready to take a few lives as he exacts his will upon Gotham City. And while we know young Bruce Wayne will survive his face-to-face encounter with the grinning maniac, it's just as obvious their battle at the carnival will leave both men irrevocably changed.

Airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, “Gotham” is set in Batman’s home city back before the Dark Knight Detective started his nocturnal patrols and stars Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordon, David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova as young Selina Kyle, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins and Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney.
