Back in 1978, Bruce Campbell and director Sam Raimi made a horror short called Within the Woods to raise money for the next project: The Evil Dead. The final 1981 movie about a group of college friends who take a trip to a cabin and unwittingly release an ancient Sumerian demon that possesses them in turn, was made for only $400,000 but grossed $2.4 million in the U.S. alone. It has since become a cult classic, spawning an entire franchise including two sequels -- (Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness), a 2013 Evil Dead reboot, a yet-to-be-confirmed Evil Dead sequel, the 2015-2018 TV series Ash Vs. Evil Dead and an Evil Dead video game.
