Evil Dead franchise star Bruce Campbell "leaked" a page of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness script in honor of April Fools' Day.

"Oops. This slipped," Campbell wrote on Twitter. Accompanying the tweet is a "leaked" page of the script, which finds Doctor Strange interacting with Campbell's Ash Williams character, who lost his hand in Evil Dead 2 and replaced it with a chainsaw. Strange, who is searching for the Darkhold, asks Campbell's character if he knows where to find it. Campbell responds by asking if the book has a face on it, a reference to Army of Darkness' Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, a magical book with similar properties to the Darkhold.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is being directed by Sam Raimi, who took over directorial duties from Scott Derrickson in early 2020. Raimi directed Campbell in the first three Evil Dead films and served as a producer on 2013 reboot/sequel. Campbell has since cameoed in many of Raimi's projects, including all three Spider-Man films and Xena: Warrior Princess. While Campbell has not been officially confirmed to appear in the Doctor Strange sequel, he fueled casting speculation after traveling to London, the same location where Multiverse of Madness is filming.

Campbell is not the only actor to "interact" with the Darkhold. Following the season finale of WandaVision, Gabriel Luna, who portrayed Ghost Rider in ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., joked that his character hid the Darkhold under his mattress. The Darkhold appeared in both WandaVision and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Evil Dead franchise follows Campbell's Ash Williams as he fights various demons and monsters. The series includes four movies, one upcoming film and the TV show Ash vs Evil Dead, which ran on Starz for three seasons.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will pick up after the events of WandaVision and will feature Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch. In the post-credits scene of the Disney+ series, Wanda was seen reading the Darkhold to increase her witch powers.

Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Xochitl Gomez. The film arrives in theaters March 25, 2022.
