Through the first six seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gina Linetti was a key character. As the precinct's civilian administrator and Captain Holt's assistant, she played a part in everything going on in the 99. And she was hilarious, to boot. But one thing that wasn't funny was Gina's constant sexual harassment of Terry Jeffords, something the series never really came to terms with before she left it behind in Season 6.

Gina was a childhood friend of Jake Peralta, something that came up sporadically throughout the series. In Season 1, Episode 18, Jake pointed out that he actually helped Gina get her job at the 99. Gina was incredibly self-absorbed, with a massive ego and delusions of grandeur. That being said, she did eventually reach the level of success she claimed she was capable of, so maybe they weren't delusions after all.

Fans loved her borderline insane statements, as well as the fact that she seemed to be literally capable of anything. And even though she was often perceived as a bully, Gina would still usually do right by her friends. If nothing else, she was fiercely loyal and would always do what was expected of her. Unfortunately, what was expected of her was frequently neither helpful nor appropriate, like organizing files based on perp hotness.

Gina gazes at Terry

While fans might be able to forgive Gina's constant bullying of Charles and Amy as a running gag, her constant harassment of Terry is a lot harder to deal with. Gina made no secret of the fact that she found Terry incredibly attractive. As such, she perpetually hit on the man at every possible opportunity. If all that was happening was a flirty workplace crush, that would have been fine. But she often took things too far.

In Season 2, Episode 17, Gina's mother and Charles' father were getting married. It was a horrifying concept as Gina and Charles had quite recently been friends with benefits for a few months. Not surprisingly, Gina took control of the entire wedding. She had apparently insisted that Terry take his tux in to make it tighter and was trying to cajole him into dancing in a go-go cage. It should go without saying that he was not receptive to this.

These kinds of actions were in line with her constant comments on his body, objectifying him on a regular basis. Terry did his best to dissuade her, but nothing ever seemed to work. Making the situation even worse was the fact that the series never really addressed this issue. There would be occasional comments from Terry about the harassment but nothing was ever really done about it.

The gag eventually started to fade into the background. Gina harassed Terry less and less until it stopped happening. At the same time, the fact there was seemingly never any fallout from her actions towards Terry was out of place for the series. In Season 6, Episode 8, Jake and Amy investigated a sexual assault case at an office. At the same time, no one from the 99 ever stepped in to deal with the case of chronic sexual harassment right under their noses.
