Sony has provided a gory new look at the upcoming sci-fi/horror film Brightburn with an extended red-band clip.

In a scene that could be lifted from a slasher film, we see the film's main antagonist terrorizing a poor waitress. Part of this footage was in the film's first trailer, but the extended look shows plenty more, including a brutal moment involving glass and someone's eye.

"What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?" the film's official synopsis asks. "With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror."

The film is directed by David Yarovesky and produced by James Gunn. Yarovesky has directed several shorts, as well as the 2014 horror film The Hive. It also takes Gunn back to his horror roots after directing 2006's cult classic Slither.
