Modelled after the European comics festivals more than the smaller and value-driven US conventions, Comic Expo, with its slogan ‘Promoting Literacy and the Visual Arts’ is mounting a mammoth outreach
advertising and publicity programme to attract the general public to the show conveniently situated 20
minutes from London Gatwick International Airport.
Various all-age art workshops and publisher portfolio review sessions are being staged for an event expected to be the largest of its kind in UK history.
“For me, organising this event is about putting something back in. It’s easy to just take all the
time, but I feel there’s a responsibility that people who have done well out of comics have to promote our industry to a wider market. To put something back in, irrespective of financial gain,” Dez Skinn, the Comic Expo Chairman and CEO, commented.
