Brie Larson is in talks to star opposite Tom Hiddleston in "Kong: Skull Island," Legendary Pictures' King Kong origin story.

Not details are given about her role, but Deadline emphasizes it's a "big coup" for the "Trainwreck" actress, whose credits also include "Scott Pilgrim vs The World," "21 Jump Street" and "United States of Tara."

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (“The Kings of Summer”) from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, "Skull Island" recently lost co-stars Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons due to scheduling issues. According to the website, Legendary is now courting Russell Crowe for one of the roles.

Announced last year at Comic-Con International, “Kong: Skull Island” will focus on a team of explorers who trespass on King Kong’s primordial island territory. Originally planned for release in November 2016, the 3D adventure is now set to arrive March 10, 2017.
