Regé-Jean Page, one of the breakout stars of Netflix's Bridgerton, has joined the cast of Paramount Pictures' adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Page is set to have a leading role alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith. Though the plot details behind Dungeons & Dragons remain scarce, the duo of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will write and direct the feature film, after taking over script duties from Michael Gilio.

Dungeons & Dragons, based on the tabletop roleplaying game that has captivated players for decades, has had a long journey to the screen a second time after 2000's Dungeons & Dragons from New Line failed to impress audiences and critics alike. In 2015, Warner Bros. secured the film rights and announced a move towards adapting the game, with Ansel Elgort expected to star. That ultimately fell through, with Paramount scooping up the rights thanks to its production deal with Hasbro.

Dungeons & Dragons joins other previously announced Hasbro movies Micronauts and Snake Eyes. For now, Bridgerton will move on without Page and co-star Phoebe Dynevor, as Season 2 will follow Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton and Simone Ashley's Kate Sharma.

Written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, Dungeons & Dragons stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Regé-Jean Page. The film arrives in theaters May 27, 2022.
