All in all, Bridgerton is one of those shows people become invested in. Bridgerton incorporates interesting characters who having equally compelling stories. But as always with TV, circumstances change and so do those involved. Since the first season exploded in 2021, not every character has maintained their acclaim.

10 The Craze Over The Duke Of Hastings/Simon Basset Has Dwindled

The Duke Of Hastings Simon Basset

Fans were disappointed when it was announced that Regé-Jean Page, who plays the Duke of Hastings/Simon, only signed on for season 1 and wouldn't be returning. However, Simon was mentioned by Daphne in season 2 when she discussed how they continued connecting just as well after being married for a year. Since the second season's release, it seemed like outrage about Simon's absence had died down. With Anthony having taken his turn, people now looked forward to the next Bridgerton sibling's journey to love.

9 Marina/Lady Crane Is Less Memorable By The End Of Season 2

Marina Lady Crane

Although it's good to see that Marina appears to be in a better place during season 2, as a married woman with twins, her character's story has consisted of general negativity.

From Portia/Lady Featherington trying in vain to find Marina a husband who'd accept her situation to a difficult conversation with Colin when he pays a visit, only awkwardness and disappointment have come of Marina's interactions with others. Even though this isn't entirely her fault in some cases, it's safe to say Marina hasn't become the most memorable character.

8 Cressida Cowper Faded Into The Background

Cressida Cowper dancing with Colin in Bridgerton.

Cressida Cowper has consistently been a thorn in people's sides. Some sneaky things she's done include threatening to expose Daphne and Simon after their garden rendezvous. While her brief appearances add necessary drama to Bridgerton's storylines, Cressida's sneakiness isn't as prominent this time around.

The new Lord Featherington began plotting (and falling in love) with Lady Featherington, which pushed Cressida out of the picture. Even though some might say it's what she deserves, Cressida can't help but be set aside by those she goes after.

7 Siena Rosso's Popularity Completely Deteriorated After Season 1

Siena Rosso

Siena and Anthony have a passionate, but challenging time as a couple in season 1. Siena slept with Anthony while she was seeing another man, which put her in a bad light. Ultimately, their expectations of each other proved to be too much for their relationship which led to it's demise during the first season's finale — marking Siena's last appearance on Bridgerton. Even though Anthony did wrong by her, making promises he couldn't keep, Siena was associated with dysfunction and flakiness, which didn't make for a popular character.

6 Benedict Bridgerton's Current Antics Pale In Comparison To That Of Others

Benedict Bridgerton

Benedict's overall carefree spirit was refreshing when compared to other Bridgerton characters. This approach to life led him to try hallucinogenic substances, which resulted in hilarious behavior. But these elements weren't enough to make Benedict stand out.

Even though Benedict seriously began pursuing his career as an artist, the intensity of other storylines — such as Eloise discovering Penelope's secret and the Featheringtons navigating their financial situation — overshadowed his pursuits during season 2. Despite providing comic relief, this didn't work in Benedict's favor when regarding popularity.

5 Prince Friedrich Is The Forgettable Nice Guy

Prince Friedrich

Prince Friedrich's character was a nice person with so much class. This was why, in season 1, although viewers were glad Daphne ended up marrying Simon, they felt bad that Friedrich never found a wife. Sadly, he wasn't a popular character to begin with and his absence in season 2 didn't help.

Viewers are only reminded of the Prince when the Queen mentions to Edwina that Friedrich is single. Whether he'll appear again remains to be seen, but his popularity has decreased to the point of almost being forgotten.

4 Making Prudence Featherington A Pawn Failed To Increase Her Popularity

Prudence Featherington 1

Other than Penelope, saying Featherington sisters aren't very friendly people would be an understatement. Prudence, more specifically, never secures a match in the first season and eventually agrees to participate in her mother's scheme for her to become the next Lady Featherington. Despite seemingly showing more of Prudence when she tries to catch Lord Featherington's attention by dressing and acting a certain way, this makes her increasingly cringeworthy. As she hasn't yet shown any signs of growth or a character arc, Prudence has become less popular.

3 Philippa Finch Stood Out Even Less Throughout The Second Season

Philippa Featherington 1

Philippa found her match, Albion, in season 1. Although her father Archibald tried to sabotage the couple on account of him losing his daughters' dowry money, Philippa and Albion eventually resumed their relationship, and got engaged. They married in season 2. As a woman who had/wanted to get married in this era, she fulfilled her duty. But as a side character who didn't stand out much when initially introduced, she stood out even less and hasn't done nor endured anything significant after marrying Albion.

Will Mondrich

Fans see multiple dimensions of Will's character in season 1. He is a father, husband, boxer, and Simon's trainer/friend. However, in the second season, he's given up boxing completely and opened up an exclusive club for men.

Will remains a person possessing a strong moral compass, and clearly exhibits his beliefs when informing Colin about Jack's deceit. However, he isn't as interesting as he was before. Unfortunately, being Simon's friend is what made Will a more dynamic presence, but he no longer has this role as of season 2.

1 When Archibald Featherington Died, So Did His Popularity

Archibald Featherington

Archibald's shady business deals, like the one he tried making with Will, were out of sheer desperation, and he stooped even lower by insulting Will after he refused. Even though Archibald won the bet regardless, he never collected the money as those he dealt with killed him in season 1. Archibald's addiction to gambling left his family in financial ruin. It was up to his wife, Portia, to clean up his mess. Needless to say, Archibald wasn't very popular thanks to his habit of constantly making the wrong choices.
