Welcome to Shelf Porn, our weekly trip into the abode of a fan. Today Brian invites us into his home, showing us his graphic novels, toys and much more.

If you’d like to see your collection here, you can find instructions on how to submit it at the end of this post.

Now here's Brian ...

I'm a little different than most collectors. While I do have some individual issues, I prefer graphic novels and trade paperbacks. Every time I go to one of my local comic book stores, one of the employees there calls me "the dude with the huge graphic novel collection." My collection is over 1,100 books.

I have everything in my corner of the basement. I still need to do some work to get things up on the wall.

I maintain my collection in 2 places: an app on my phone for what I own, and a spreadsheet of what I need as well as what I own. I've only twice mistakenly bought books that I already had owned.

My favorite characters are Batman, Captain America, The Tick, and the Geoff Johns run of Green Lantern. My favorite books are Marvel: Civil War, The Losers series, Mouse Guard, and Blackest Night. I'm a big fan of Grant Morrison (We3 is touching and brilliant), and Geoff Johns. I also am a fan of David Finch's art, as well as Frank Quitely, Steve McNiven, and J.G. Jones. Michael Turner was amazing, RIP. His Civil War variants were truly special.

I started reading comics as a kid when my parents got me a subscription to G.I. Joe. But my collecting has really taken off over the last decade. The 'thrill of the hunt' to try to find older books is very exciting.

I have a 5 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. My son is starting to discover super heroes, and I hope it's something we can share as he gets older. I hope someday that they'll enjoy the collection, or at least, sell it and get decent cash for it.

If you’d like to see your collection featured here on Robot 6, here’s what you need to do:

1. Take some photos and save them as jpgs.

2. Write up a little something about your collection.

3. Send them to me in an email. Please put the text into an email and attach the images as separate files; don’t embed them into a Word doc. Uploading them to Dropbox or a similar service also works.
