Bendis Sets Target on Punisher In New End of Days Series

The Punisher is set to guest-star in Marvel’s new Defenders series from writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Marquez. Though the vigilante will slide in and out of the pages of the street-level team book, it’s now been made clear that Bendis has plans to continue writing the adventures of Frank Castle in a new series titled Punisher: End of Days.

Discussing The Defenders with, Bendis said he got the go-ahead from the House of Ideas to further develop Punisher’s story.

“You get these characters that react, and you want them to react honestly,” Bendis said. “Some of them are going to [expletive] their pants, and some are going to figure out what they want. Now, what’s cool that you brought up is that some of this we are going to address—and then things developed further where were given the OK to do a Punisher: End of Days series, like we did with Daredevil. But this won’t be like a sequel, but instead, kind of like a ‘side-quel’ with Punisher. It’s in that world with The Punisher trying to attempt his final ‘Punish.'”

Bendis didn’t elaborate on whether Punisher: End of Days will be an ongoing or limited series, but he did refer to the book existing side-by-side with the current Punisher volume.

Daredevil: End of Days, from Bendis and David Mack, took place in the future and covered the Man Without Fear’s death and the events that lead up to his final story. It remains to be seen if Punisher: End of Days will conclude with a similar outcome.

No release date and full creative team was revealed for Punisher: End of Days.
