After revealing that he was nearing the end of his run on DC's Superman family of titles, December's Action Comics #1028 and Superman #28 will mark writer Brian Michael Bendis' final issues on the Man of Steel franchise.
CBR has confirmed that Action Comics #1028 and Superman #28 are Bendis' final issues, though he's far from finished at DC. The writer has several projects in the works that the publisher will announce in the near future. Action Comics #1028 and Superman #28 were revealed in DC's December 2020 solicitations.
Bendis confirmed his time on Action Comics and Superman was coming to an end back in June. "I'm heading toward the end of my run on Superman," Bendis said. "So I've been more reflective on it and... I will never be more grateful than I got to heal my near-death experience through Superman and then get through this pandemic."
The writer of Superman and Action Comics joined DC near the end of 2017, after spending over a decade at Marvel Comics. Bendis started at DC with a Man of Steel miniseries before relaunching Action Comics and Superman. He is also the creator of DC's Wonder Comics imprint, which saw the return of the fan-favorite Young Justice series with its trinity of founding members Robin/Tim Drake, Superboy/Conner Kent and Impulse/Bart Allen. Young Justice, along with Suicide Squad, Teen Titans and Hawkman, are slated to publish their final issues in November.
