WWE Hall of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart was attacked by a fan while giving an induction speech for the Hart Foundation at the Hall of Fame ceremony Saturday night.

The attack happened at the Barclays Center while Hart was at the podium inducting the Hart Foundation in front of the assembled live crowd. The WWE Network feed of the event cut out right before the fan made it into the ring, but those in attendance at the Barclays Center captured the aftermath with their cellphones.

LA Times Sports Columnist Arash Markazi was in the crowd and recorded what took place after Hart was attacked. Many of the WWE Superstars sitting in the crowd rushed the ring, half checking on Hart and the other half tackling the assailant. The attacker was then carried to the back. To his credit, Hart was able to compose himself and finish the speech with his niece, Natalya, by his side.

The Hart Foundation is part of the 2019 Class of the WWE Hall of Fame, marking Bret Hart's second time being inducted into the fabled hall of fame. Hart and Jim Neidhart (Natalya's father) were two-time WWF Tag Team Champions, and are members of the iconic Hart Family. Jim Neidhart passed away in September 2018.
