Affleck has played Bruce Wayne on screen three times, first appearing in 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice before briefly reprising the role later that year in Suicide Squad. Most recently, the actor appeared last year in the ensemble film Justice League with rumors that Affleck may be replaced by a younger actor for Matt Reeves' planned Batman solo film.

While Thwaites has yet to appear as Wayne's youthful ward, Dick Grayson, the live-action Titans series is expected to premiere on DC Universe, DC Comics' premium streaming service, when the platform launches this fall. The first season of the upcoming series recently wrapped filming and has already received a spinoff series with Doom Patrol which is expected to premiere next year.
