USA Today has revealed a stormy first look at Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel in director Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

The release of the image, which arrives nearly two months after debut of Ben Affleck as a brooding Dark Knight, may indicate that the actor will soon be seen in costume on the Detroit set of the Warner Bros. film.

Snyder, unsurprisingly, doesn't reveal much about the relationship between the two iconic characters in his follow-up to "Man of Steel," but he indicates that "v" in the title may hold a clue. Why "v" instead of "vs."? He tells the newspaper that it's a way "to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way."

Opening May 6, 2016, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" also stars Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
