Disney and "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan are going into the beanstalk business.
Deadline reports the studio has snatched up "Beanstalk," a revisionist take on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk tale, based on a detailed outline by Gilligan. He's selected "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" veteran Thomas Schnauz to write the script.
According to the website, Gilligan will produce alongside Mark Johnson, and could even direct. It would mark his feature directorial debut. A co-executive producer and writer for both "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," Schnauz's credits also include "The X-Files," "The Lone Gunmen" and "Reaper."
Bryan Singer took on the source material in 2013's big-budget fantasy adventure "Jack the Giant Slayer," which is thought to have lost as much as $140 million for Legendary Pictures.
