Brandon Routh has reprised his role as Superman on The CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover. But the actor has stated he had one demand before agreeing to again appear as the character he played in 2006's Superman Returns.

"I wanted to make sure that it was the same character, the same version of Superman or at least similar enough," Routh said in an interview with Den of Geek. "As we know now with different films and comic book storylines that have come out in all these years, there are different ways to approach the character."

"I wanted to make sure that ideally it was the same character from Superman Returns," Routh continued. "And if not, that it was still that same idea of who Superman is, at his core. That was important to me. Because I wasn't necessarily interested in playing a different version."

Many thought Routh's Superman days were behind him - including Routh himself. The actor returned to the live-action DC Universe in 2014 to play the role of Ray Palmer/The Atom as part of The CW's Arrowverse. Routh also plays The Atom in "Crisis."

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" will return after the winter hiatus. The crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Arrow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
