Brad Pitt Seeks No Redemption

It's possible that we'll one day see a film adaptation of Red Dead Redemption, the Western shoot-'em-up from Rockstar Games — just don't expect Brad Pitt to saddle up alongside the project, despite rumors.

Word of Pitt's involvement as Redemption outlaw John Marston first emerged through Showbiz Spy, who cited sources saying:

“This is an exciting project with a great character at the center of it. ...

“The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches. ...

“Brad is perfect for the role and he is being given first refusal.”

Not so fast, however, as officials from Rockstar told IGN that they do "not comment on rumor or speculation." While it's certainly possible that Pitt could go down in a blaze of glory with Red Dead Redemption, this one sounds like another case of rumors getting way out of hand. But whether or not there's truth to the rumor — and perhaps there is, at the end of the day — there's no question that Pitt can handle the Western genre, previously knocking it out of the park in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

But if Pitt isn't up for the role, who would you want to see play the lead in a Red Dead Redemption movie? Should there even be a Red Dead Redemption movie?
