WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki Episode 6, "Once You Start Speedrunning the Minigames, You Seriously Can't Stop," now streaming on Funimation.

Since he truly began playing the game of life, expert gamer and social misfit Fumiya Tomozaki has taken on and (mostly) achieved the goals his classmate and life coach Aoi Hinami sets for him. He's successfully growing as a person, making a few friends and improving his whole demeanor. But with the Student Council election season beginning, the master and her apprentice are both a part of the race -- on opposing sides.

Hinami, the heavy favorite to win the election, had intended to make Tomozaki her campaign manager. But when the affable Mimimi Nanami surprisingly throws her hat into the ring, Hinami has a change of heart. She doesn't believe Mimimi has a chance to win as things stand, so she instructs Tomozaki to become Mimimi's campaign manager and help her make the election a true contest.

Mimimi turns down Tomozaki's initial offer to join her team, but his attention to detail and creative strategy ideas soon win her over. While Hinami's extensive knowledge about her fellow students allows her to engage with many of them individually, Mimimi is handing out flyers and cheerfully -- but generically -- asking for votes. Tomozaki looks at her flyers and notices font inconsistencies, typos and lines grouped too closely together. So he does some editing to make the flyers look cleaner and more professional, much to Mimimi's joy and gratitude. She officially adds Tomozaki to the team as her "brain."

Mimimi's motivation for running reveals there's much more to her than the airheaded jokester she's often portrayed as. She's been friends with Hinami for a long time, and Hinami is the best at everything they do. Whether it's grades, sports or any other competition, Hinami always finishes top of the school -- with Mimimi second. The two are very close, but Mimimi wants her own accomplishments to be remembered -- and to be able to feel truly proud of herself. In her eyes, Hinami is the mountain she has to overcome.

Tomozaki doesn't necessarily believe Mimimi would make a better Student Council President than Hinami. However, the gamer in him relishes the challenge of taking on Hinami. In AtaFami they are known as Nanashi and NO NAME, Japan's top two players by a mile. In real life, however, he remains a novice, and Hinami represents the biggest and most difficult "boss" he could imagine. Tomozaki knows it's a tall order, and he needs to get creative if he and Mimimi are to have any chance of beating Hinami.

Tomozaki's strategy is two-fold: get the votes of the sports clubs -- where Mimimi is extremely popular, especially after promising to get them an electric air pump -- and the first-year students, who are the least familiar with Hinami and therefore may be easier for Mimimi to reach. Though it isn't fully revealed, Tomozaki also has a special plan for Mimimi's big election day speech. The two make a surprisingly excellent team as Tomozaki's strategies are indeed boosting Mimimi's chances of winning.

However, Hinami is the best at everything she does for a reason, and her uncanny ability to relate directly to voters suggests she is the best qualified to represent the school as President. Tomozaki may be fighting an almighty uphill battle, but he's giving it his all and gaining a wealth of life experience points in the process. In the end, regardless of the election's outcome, Tomozaki is already a winner.
