Female characters don't often get the spotlight in the Naruto franchise. That's mainly because the title characters from both Naruto and Boruto are young boys who are working toward becoming shinobi. Despite that, many of the women of the shinobi world have some serious strength as well.

The kunoichi in Boruto have very different skill sets, and though some of them haven't been at the forefront of the story, their skills are known by fans who've seen them in action as teens in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. Someone like Temari has the best skills utilizing Wind Release, though most of her action in Boruto has been off screen. Hinata, as well, goes through a lot of training as a child, though she's not active in the field in Boruto. Still, those are a couple of Boruto characters who rank amongst the strongest kunoichi.

10 Karui Is Strongest With Her Katana

Karui and Choji with flowers in front of Chocho in Boruto

Much of what the audience knows about Karui is courtesy of Naruto Shippuden. By the time of the events of Boruto, she's moved to Konoha, married Choji Akimichi, had a daughter, and doesn't appear to be as active in the world of shinobi missions.

The audience knows that she's an aggressive fighter who has taken Sakura by surprise, that her village leaders actually seek her out personally for missions, and that she can defeat a shinobi with a single blow from her katana. What the audience doesn't know is how she's kept up with her training since. She's been an advocate for not forcing her daughter to learn the Ino-Shika-Cho formations in a time of peace, so it's likely her shinobi training has been put on the back burner.

9 Mirai Was Chosen As The Bodyguard Of A Hokage

Mirai Sarutobi From Boruto

Mirai is the child of Asuma Sarutobi and Kurenai Yuhi born during the events of Naruto Shippuden, there are some fans who think she would have made a more interesting protagonist for the new Naruto generation. Instead, Mirai hasn't spent a lot of time in the spotlight.

To her credit, she was handpicked to guard Kakashi on more than one occasion, and some of those times were during his tenure as Hokage. In order to be trusted to guard the Hokage, a shinobi has to be fierce. The Sarutobi bloodline also tends to produce incredible power in its shinobi, so Mirai should be no different.

8 Hinata Still Has Her Byakugan

Growing up, Hinata became a shinobi because it was expected of her. She came from a powerful clan and her world was on the brink of war. As an adult, she took a step back from that life to focus on her family and raise two children. That doesn't mean she's completely lost her edge.

Hinata does, after all, have the Hyuga family Byakugan. She doesn't use it often, but she's actually a master at it. Both of Hinata's kids and her husband are scared of getting in trouble with her for a reason. She's just not out battling the bad guys anymore.

7 Hanabi Has Always Been Stronger Than Her Sister

Hanabi sparring with Boruto and his shadow clone

Like Mirai and Karui, Hanabi hasn't seen a ton of action in the Boruto series. She has, however, shown remarkable control and restraint when sparring with her nephew so that her father wouldn't go too hard on him. It's not surprising that she would have amazing control.

After all, Hanabi became the heir to the Hyuga Clan when her father cut ties with Hinata at a young age because Hanabi was always the more confident and aggressive fighter. Her skills are superior to her sister's, and it's just a matter of when it'll be shown more in the series.

6 Ino Retains Her Mind Control Abilities

Ino is one of those Naruto characters who has a ton of potential to be a fierce fighter in the field. Her family jutsu, after all, involves mind control and telepathy. The story sidelines her so much, though, that she rarely gets to use her gifts. This is especially true in Boruto.

Much of her appearances in the series are focused on her relationship with her son or her continuing to run the Yamanaka flower shop. She hasn't lost her touch, though. Despite still being her bubbly self, Ino has also acted as the lead interrogator for Konoha. She's still well in touch with her abilities and can get Konoha prisoners to spill their secrets.

5 Sarada Isn't Technically A Full-Fledged Kunoichi Yet

Sarada's Sharingan In Action

In order to be classified as a kunoichi, a woman would have to have fully completed her shinobi training. Sarada is, technically, still a student learning the ins and outs of her abilities while in her three-person team. She still deserves to be recognized for her strength, however, because she's a powerhouse and will likely one day be the most powerful kunoichi in Konoha.

She might already be the most powerful child of the Konoha 11. Sarada has her mother's strength, and although she's still learning chakra control, she will likely be able to focus a punch as well as Sakukra one day. She also has the inherited skills that come from the Uchiha family and awakens her Sharingan at a young age.

4 Temari Is A Master Fan User

Temari using her fan in Boruto

Temari is one of the few kunoichi in the series who the audience knows is still an active shinobi. She takes on missions while still having time to take care of her family. Between missions, she also trains her son in using her fan with Wind Release.

Temari has a lot of skills, and she's a great strategist who can keep up with her husband, Shikamaru. Her fighting style is ruthless, and she doesn't go easy on anyone, even in training. Temari is also regarded as the best Wind Release user in the shinobi nations other than Naruto himself.

3 Kurotsuchi Is Powerful Enough To Become A Kage

Kurotsuchi From Naruto

Kurotsuchi is one of the few kunoichi in the series who isn't living in Konohagakure. From Iwagakure, she's the granddaughter of her village's Kage, and she's fiercely protective of her home.

In fact, similar to Mirai, she's chosen as part of the Tsuchikage's guard. Kurotsuchi, however, also proves herself incredibly strong to her village as she ends up becoming the next Tsuchikage as well. As the franchise has shown, only the most powerful (and most trusted) become Kage of villages in the shinobi world.

2 Delta Doesn't Think Of Herself As A Kunoichi

Delta Inside Kara's Hideout in Boruto

It's difficult to actually term Delta a kunoichi since Kara believes that the shinobi way of life should come to an end. Despite that, the secret group certainly leans hard on shinobi ways to achieve their goals.

Delta is like a ninja-cyborg in the Boruto series. Her body has been modified with so much technology that there's very little human left to her. That means she's able to hold her own in a shinobi match, even against the likes of Naruto in Sage Mode.

1 Sakura Remains The Strongest Kunoichi

Sakura preparing for a fight in Boruto

Sakura got a lot of flack from original Naruto fans because she was seen as so much weaker when compared to her teammates Naruto and Sasuke. As an adult who went through the Fourth Shinobi World War and became the best medical ninja in the shinobi world, however, she's learned a thing or two.

One of the things she's learned is exceptional chakra control. Her control is part of what allows her to pack such a solid punch. It's also part of what allows her to take on a whole group of clones on her own. As an adult, Sakura doesn't need her friends to save her anymore, and she's powerful enough to go up against some of the strongest characters in the series.
