By the end of the Naruto series, Sasuke Uchiha had become one of the strongest shinobi of all time and the only person alive capable of rivaling Naruto Uzumaki. During the blank period after the war, he continued to train his abilities and got even stronger. By the Boruto era, he had established himself as one of the greatest of all time.

Sadly, the Boruto series requires characters like Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki to be weaker in combat at times to increase the tension and stakes during the fights. Often, fans notice that Sasuke is either weakened considerably or just chooses not to use certain abilities that he has.

7 Sasuke Doesn't Use All The Rinnegan Powers After The End Of The War

Sasuke Uchiha Rinnegan powers

Just like any other user of the Rinnegan, Sasuke Uchiha has access to the Six Paths powers, with each of them granting tremendous ability in combat. Using these powers, Pain was able to become the threat that he was, and even Madara became far more menacing than fans knew him to be.

For some reason, Sasuke rarely, if ever, uses the powers offered by the Rinnegan. Most of the time, he just relies on his special Rinnegan ability, known as Amenotejikara, or uses the eye to open portals to different dimensions. This is likely due to Sasuke's eye being too overpowered for most villains to deal with.

6 When Sasuke Fought Shin Uchiha In Boruto

Shin was a synthetic human created by Orochimaru who had several clones at his beck and call all the time. He held the power of the Sharingan, and thanks to Hashirama's cells, he held a tremendous amount of chakra as well.

Despite all the power that he had, Shin should've been an easy challenge for Sasuke to deal with. Yet, the Boruto series showed both Sasuke and Naruto taking some damage against him. Had Sasuke not been nerfed for the plot, Shin would've been decimated within a matter of mere seconds.

5 When Sasuke Fought Against Urashiki Otsutsuki

Urashiki Otsutsuki's glowing Rinnegan in Naruto.

The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime introduced fans to a new Otsutsuki named Urashiki. After Kinshiki and Momoshiki's death, Urashiki was the main Otsutsuki threat in the anime, and he eventually clashed against Sasuke. Surprisingly, Urashiki managed to gain the upper hand in the fight against Sasuke and even weakened him to quite a great degree. What was shocking was that Urashiki was ultimately defeated by Boruto and Naruto's combined effort during the Time Slip arc of the story, making Sasuke seem weaker.

4 When He Fought Momoshiki Otsutsuki Alongside Naruto

Momoshiki Otsutsuki was the first major antagonist of the Boruto series. After absorbing Kinshiki, Momoshiki gained tremendous power that was enough to take out four Kage in just a single blow. Together, Naruto and Sasuke managed to stop him, but both of them were heavily nerfed in this fight.

While Naruto had half of the Nine-tails chakra drained from him by Momoshiki, Sasuke had to transport around 8 people to a different dimension which took a heavy toll on his chakra reserves. Had Sasuke been at full power, the fight against Momoshiki Otsutsuki would've been much easier.

3 When Sasuke Fought Jigen Alongside Naruto

Jigen vs Sasuke Uchiha Boruto manga

Jigen was introduced to the fans as the leader of Kara and a monstrously powerful fighter capable of taking on even Naruto and Sasuke in combat. The two fought Jigen in a different dimension, and despite using all of their powers, they were unable to defeat him. Sadly, both Naruto and Sasuke were nerfed in this fight, once again. To make Jigen more threatening, Sasuke didn't use any Rinnegan ability other than his teleportation Jutsu.

Had Sasuke been able to use the Six Paths powers, deflecting the chakra rods would've been much easier for him. In addition, Sasuke's visionary prowess, which was strong enough to take on even Six Paths Madara in combat, somehow seemed much weaker against Jigen.

2 When Sasuke Fought Isshiki Otsutsuki In Their Final Battle

Isshiki

Isshiki's return shortly after fighting Kashin Koji meant that Sasuke and Naruto had to engage him in combat once again and deal with him for good this time. Although Sasuke's showing against Isshiki wasn't bad, it would've been much smoother had he not been nerfed.

While Naruto was able to keep up with Isshiki to some extent, Sasuke was overwhelmed for the majority of the fight despite being an equal of the Seventh Hokage. Once again, he didn't make use of the Six Paths Chakra that he possessed, and his Rinnegan abilities remained fully unexplored throughout the fight. Eventually, Isshiki was taken down by Naruto's Baryon Mode and Kawaki's trickery.

1 When Sasuke Lost His Rinnegan At The Hands Of Momoshiki Otsutsuki

Boruto _ Sasuke Loses Rinnegan

Masashi Kishimoto weakened Sasuke quite a lot when he decided to take his Rinnegan away from him. After the fight with Isshiki Otsutsuki, Momoshiki took over Boruto's body, and his first target was none other than Sasuke. His Rinnegan was stabbed with a kunai, making it useless forever. Although Boruto was freed from Momoshiki's control immediately afterward, Sasuke had already been nerfed.

Without his Rinnegan, he lost his Six Paths powers and the teleportation Jutsu that he often relied on. His only weapon in combat now is his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, the powers of which are very limited and can do little against the likes of the Otsutsuki Clan members or Kara Inners.
