Naruto Uzumaki's generation of ninjas has well and truly become fabulous shinobi over time, and just like those before them, they've passed on the torch to the next generation. The new generation of ninjas, led by Boruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, possess immense skills with each of them having great potential.

It goes without saying that they'll grow up to be just as great as their predecessors, if not better. Although they haven't matured as shinobi yet, their powers certainly are worth discussing. Here are the strongest next generation ninjas in Boruto, ranked by their power.

Updated on August 23rd, 2020 by Josh Davison: Boruto has introduced several new skilled and compelling young shinobi. This next generation is packed to the brim with no-name shinobi out to make a legacy for themselves and several legacy shinobi who are looking to uphold the proud traditions of their families. While a list of 10 allows us to highlight many of the best and brightest of the next generation of shinobi, it still leaves out some of the greats that have arrived in the ninja world in this generation. With that in mind, let's take a look at another five of Boruto's peers who've made an impact in the series.

15 Iwabee Yuino

Iwabee Yuino in Boruto.

Iwabee Yuino is a character that, so far, has only gotten focus in the Boruto anime. He is a teammate of Metal Lee in Team 8 and wields a jō as his weapon of choice. Iwabee is a bit older than his teammates, as his test scores during past exams have resulted in him being held back several times.

Iwabee is able to wield his Earth Release ninjutsu to great effect, and he is an overall skilled ninja despite his apparent testing difficulties.

14 Yodo

Yodo is a shinobi from the Hidden Sand Village and a teammate of Gaara's adopted son, Shinki. In the parallels between her team and Team Gaara, Yodo is the analog for Temari. However, instead of wielding a great fan as a weapon, Yodo uses her hair.

Yodo has impressive taijutsu skills, but her signature technique is using her hair to generate massive sonic booms that both damage and disorient her opponents. However, she lost to Shikadai during the Chunin Exams.

13 Inojin Yamanaka

Inojin Yamanaka is the son of Ino Yamanaka and Sai and is the teammate of Shikidai and Chōchō. This trio constitutes the seventeenth generation of the Ino-Shika-Cho formation, and Inojin proves to be no slouch by wielding both the skills of the Yamanaka Clan and the painting-based ninjutsu of Sai.

With both of these abilities, Inojin has boundless potential but hasn't really been able to accomplish any great feats yet. During the Chunin Exams, Inojin was easily bested by Araya of the Sand Village.

12 Araya

Araya is the teammate of Shinki and Yodo and hails from the Village Hidden in the Sand. He wears a mask and wields a long sword for combat.

Araya's primary technique resembles that of Kankuro, as Araya uses puppets for combat. He used a lifelike puppet of himself to face Sarada Uchiha during the Chunin Exams, but the puppet ultimately lost to Sarada, which meant Araya still lost the exam battle.

11 Chōchō Akimichi

Chocho Akimichi in the Boruto anime

Chōchō Akimichi is the daughter of Choji of Konoha and Karui of the Hidden Cloud Village. Chōcho's primary combat techniques are the trademark Akimichi Clan jutsu, primarily focusing on size and calorie manipulation.

Chōchō has shown mastery over some of the Akimichi Clan's most powerful jutsu, particularly the Human Bullet Tank, Super Multi-Size Technique, and even the Butterfly Mode which Choji once unleashed on Jirōbō years before. Chōchō is a formidable shinobi and may yet prove to be one of the best of the new generation.

10 Yurui

Yurui Boruto

Yurui is a young Genin from Kumogakure, and apparently, one of the students of Killer Bee. Just like his master/idol, Yurui wields razor-edged blades that are further enhanced by Yurui being able to run lightning through them.

Furthermore, Yurui possesses a strange ability to blow explosive bubbles that deal significant damage to the enemies when touched. He may not be the strongest of them all, but Yurui certainly does hold tremendous potential. Under Bee's guidance, he's sure to become a fantastic shinobi in the coming years.

9 Metal Lee

Metal Lee from Boruto

Metal Lee is the son of Rock Lee, and just like his dad, he's a Taijutsu expert. Metal has followed in his father's footsteps as he's honed his hand-to-hand skills greatly. Although Metal suffers from stage fright, he seems unstoppable once he gets going.

It remains to be seen whether he can make use of the Eight Inner Gates like Rock Lee, but the anime seems to hint that he can open up to three gates, which makes him a threat to any other Genin in his ranks. Regardless, Metal is only going to get better with time.

8 Shikadai Nara

Shikadai from Boruto.

Shikamaru and Temari's son, Shikadai Nara is one of the brightest minds in the entire Konoha village. Like his father, Shikadai possesses an incredibly high intellect. Coupled with his skills in the Shadow Manipulation Jutsu, Shikadai is an exceptionally powerful shinobi, no matter which way you look at it.

Interestingly enough, Shikadai also possesses the ability to use Wind Release, which he's learned from his mother over the years. Among all the next generation shinobi of his group, he's the only one to have been promoted to the rank of a Chunin.

7 Kagura Karatachi

Kagura Karatachi close up from Boruto

One of the descendants of Kirigakure's Fourth Mizukage Yagura, Kagura Karatachi is an incredible shinobi who holds the job of being Chojuro's right-hand man. Kagura is a Chunin already, despite his young age. When it comes to fighting abilities, his excellent skills with a sword ensure that he stays among the strongest ninjas of the new generation.

After Chojuro, Kagura has become the inheritor of the Hiramekarei, which just goes to show how powerful he really is. In the future, he could very well end up becoming the next Mizukage of Kirigakure once Choujuro steps down from his position.

6 Mirai Sarutobi

Mirai Sarutobi with knife

As the daughter of Asuma Sarutobi and the granddaughter of Hiruzen Sarutobi, Mirai Sarutobi has greatness thrust upon her. It's fair to say that she's lived up to the expectations as she's one of the most experienced Chunin in Konohagakure right now.

Mirai wields the abilities of both her mother and her father. Undoubtedly, she's a fearsome Kunoichi, and her skill has earned her the right to be the bodyguard of both the Sixth and the Seventh Hokage on multiple occasions.

5 Shinki

Shinki

Gaara's adoptive son, Shinki is an excellent shinobi despite his young age. Wielding the Kekkei Genkai of Magnet Release, Shinki has the same ability as the Third Kazekage which lets him manipulate Iron Sand at will. He's mastered it to a level where only strong lightning style Jutsu can penetrate his defenses.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Shinki is already above your average Chunin level, which makes him a remarkable shinobi for someone of his age. With time, he's only going to improve further. In fact, the likelihood of him becoming the next Kazekage after Gaara is extremely high.

4 Sarada Uchiha

Sarada-Boruto

One of the brightest ninjas in Konoha right now, Sarada Uchiha is famed for her Sharingan. Although Sarada was surprisingly underwhelming compared to her other two teammates until recently, she's grown surprisingly strong very quickly. Thanks to the immense amount of hard work that she has put in, Sarada has managed to fully mature her Sharingan which grants her exceptional powers.

Coupled with the monstrous strength that she inherited from her mother, Sarada is a nightmare for any shinobi to face, including some of your average Jonin ninjas. With each passing day, she gets closer to her goal of becoming the Eighth Hokage.

3 Boruto Uzumaki

The son of Naruto Uzumaki, Boruto is an awfully talented shinobi who has gradually gotten stronger under Sasuke Uchiha's care. Although Boruto's power is, more or less, close to that of Sarada Uchiha's, he possesses some weird powers that give him the edge.

One such power is the Karma that he inherited from Momoshiki Otsutsuki. It is unknown to what extent Boruto can use its powers, but once activated, he becomes tremendously stronger. Added to that is the power of the Jougan, which all but confirms that Boruto Uzumaki is slightly stronger than Sarada.

2 Mitsuki

Orochimaru's child, Mitsuki is an incredibly powerful shinobi who possesses skill that even some Jonin do not. In his base form, Mitsuki is stronger than an average Chunin, as implied by Kakashi Hatake during the Genin exams. Using his Sage Mode powers, he becomes strong enough to fight against some of the strongest of Jonin out there and hold his own, at the very least.

At full power, Mitsuki is likely strong enough to blow past most of the next generation shinobi in the series. What's more, he is said to have enough talent to surpass even Orochimaru which ensures that he'll get even more powerful in the upcoming years.

1 Kawaki

boruto-kawaki 2

Topping the list is Kawaki, who is a member of the Uzumaki family for now. Kawaki is the vessel of Isshiki Otsutsuki, just as Boruto is the vessel of Momoshiki Otsutsuki. Unlike Boruto, Kawaki possesses a decent amount of control on the Karma seal, which gives him the edge over him. Although Kawaki cannot perform complex Jutsu, he certainly can fight rather well, as seen when he blew up Garou, a Kara Outer, to bits.

Under Naruto Uzumaki's tutelage, Kawaki is bound to get even stronger. By the end of the series, he'll likely be one of the strongest characters in the entire series, if not the strongest.
